Ordering streaming data

In addition to renting short-term QTAKE licenses, Rental Shop can also be used to purchase data credits for QTAKE Cloud streaming. Just like when ordering a rental QTAKE license, there is a simple and intuitive one-page data configurator. Data credits are not dependent on a machine ID – instead, they are tied to your QTAKE ID, i.e. your email address used to log in to QTAKE Cloud.

Purchased data can currently be added to an Owner Account only, even if the data purchase has been completed by Admin or Payer user. If the Owner Account needs to transfer data to any other QTAKE ID  – i.e. to an email address used to log in to QTAKE Cloud – he needs to initiate a data transfer. If the Operators Account then needs to transfer the data back or to another QTAKE ID, he needs to sign up for Owners Account using the same QTAKE ID as for his Operators Account.

How to choose the right amount of data

  • To estimate how much data you need, move the blue slider and the calculator will automatically show how long you can stream with the selected combination of the number of cameras, number of clients receiving the stream, and stream bitrate in Mbps.
  • Play around with grey sliders to see how fast the selected data amount will be consumed in various scenarios.
  • You can purchase more data than you might actually need for just one project. Data credits never expire and bigger data volumes are more price convenient. Contact us for a bulk purchase quote.

Tips & hints

  • Stream bitrate can be modified using H.264 resolution and quality in the QTAKE Project settings. Additionally, bitrate is dependent on the content of the image. Still images will lower the bitrate, while complex images will make it higher. Use the bitrate counters in the QTAKE Stream toolbar to check the current values.
  • QTAKE Cloud Streaming has been previously licensed by renting the SERVER module in the Rental Shop. Such pricing model is no longer valid and has been completely replaced by the pay-per-data model as of April 29, 2020.
